Season 3, Episode 2 Landmarks With Leon AKA Lehigh Valley Landmarks
Tucked away on Easton’s Northampton Street sits a stone tavern that’s seen it all — colonial court sessions, frontier diplomats, and even a Declaration signer. Landmarks with Leon (soon Lehigh Valley Landmarks) tells the astonishing tale of George Taylor. Born in Ireland and indentured upon arrival, Taylor worked his way up from furnace laborer to ironmaster and, in 1776, one of the only 56 men to sign the Declaration of Independence. His home? The 1753 Bachmann Publick House. Click to listen and uncover how this humble Easton tavern became entwined with the birth of a nation.
